Yakobo
Travy Siame, known by his stage name Yakobo, is a rising artist from Mbala, Northern Province, Zambia. He began his musical journey in 2017, driven by a strong passion for Zambian music. During his early years, he recorded around 13 songs, but lost them all, which caused him to step back from music for a while.
In 2021, he returned with renewed determination, releasing “Mpaleni Mwelesa Wandi”, a heartfelt song that came with a music video. His creativity continued to grow, and by 2023, he released the hit single “Mwanfumya Apa” featuring Enock Mbewe, which helped expand his audience. Today, Yakobo has written and recorded over 100 songs, blending Zed music and gospel influences.
Musically, Yakobo’s style centers on rhumba and slow rhumba, but he also experiments with rap to bring diversity and energy to his sound. His passion for music was born from gatherings with friends during festive seasons, where they would freestyle rap together after sharing meals and drinks. Those moments inspired him to pursue music seriously.
Some of his notable songs include:
• Wemutemwikwa (2017)
• Kukukonda Nimakukonda (Danceable Song)
• Natotela (2021)
• Mpaleni Mwelesa Wandi (2021)
• Mwanfumya Apa ft. Enock Mbewe (2023)
Although he hasn’t yet shared the stage with other artists, Yakobo remains dedicated to improving his craft. He appreciates those who encouraged him and reminds others that becoming an artist takes time—success starts from humble beginnings.
His biggest challenge has been lack of financial support, but Yakobo is confident that with better resources, he can push his music further and continue inspiring people through his soulful Zambian and gospel sound.
